A comprehensive referral, needs and risk assessment is completed for every young person referred to the service as per ‘Other Arrangements’ under the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Guidance – Volume 2, the Children Act 1989. We have a matching criteria procedure whereby we ensure that each young person is appropriately screened before placement is accepted.
We consider emergency placements at the service; however the same admissions procedure is followed. We ensure that their wishes and feelings are taken into account and their education, training and employment needs considered when assessing the suitability and location of the placement/accommodation.
We would not consider referrals for young people where it is identified their needs could not be met effectively. Compatibility for young people who are sharing is an important consideration when reviewing referrals.
